    Default Fuel price rise?

Do you think the petroleum industry will use the fuel store fire to raise prices again?

60 million gallons is a lot of fuel to lose!

    It's only one depot. ;-)

Tankers will just get their loads from a different depot.

I see what your saying Alex, but you know what this government is like, if there is any excuse they can use to raise fuel prices they will use it.

I bet Brown thinks his Christmas has come early.

No, the local word on the street is that it is aviation fuel at Buncefield - so should be no probs..

As R-man - they seemed to indicate it was mostly, if not all, avaiation based fuel and not petrol. There shouldn't be any reason to put up fuel prices - apart from to cover their losses for the depot going up in flames - or is that me being cynical?!

According to my mate who works, sorry worked at Buncefield, they distribute aerofuel, petrol, diesel and heating oil from Buncefield, but the aviation fuel is piped direct to Heathrow. I treat with a pinch of salt claims from the operators that having Buncefield out of action will make no difference to either supply or price at the pump.
If it was indeed true and they can manage perfectly well without using Buncefield Depot....., then why would they go to the expence of running it at all?
Looking at those flames, this astronomal waste of millions of gallons of fuel cannot possibly have no effect on the supply to the petrol stations.
    Possibly......maybe....

I don't think it will cause any price increases. The fuel will still get to the pumps and the insurance companies will take the brunt of the costs.

That's not to say that the independant fuel stations will not put their prices up.

I think they'll do whatever they can get away with. No doubt they will call it 'market forces'.
