Default Just driven a new Mazda 6

I went to look at the new Mazda 6 yesterday and took it out for a test drive. At tick over i couldn't hear the engine at all(thought it had stalled) and the ride and gear change were spot on.

I asked the dealer for a price for mine(1.8 VVT Exclusiv on an 07 plate with 5000 miles) assuming that i'd change in March(08 plate). He came back with a price of £8695 for March. The only problem is the Mazda 6 ts i was looking at is £16500 with metallic paint so it would cost just over £7800 to change.

Because the Mazda only came out this month there is very little discount.I never buy a car without discount so they'll have to come down or i'll wait until a 58 plate.(obviously mine will have dropped in price as well)

Comsidering you can buy a brand new 57 plate Vectra 1.8 for £10500 now,i thought that £8650 wasn't too bad a depreciation.

I would love a Mazda 6, now have three friends with them, one on his 4th (had a 626 then......).

Not looked at the new one yet, kinda don't want to incase I really want one as work are refusing to give me something instead of mine.

I've had 2 of the old mazda 6's, the first was a 121ps D S-spec (i.e bottom range), that cost NEW £13500 inc 6disk changer, and a unlimited mileage 3 yr warranty, as I was doing 45k+ a yr then. Second was a 136ps TS2 spec 6 months old and cost £12500. Now yes they don't discount much, but thats because their not ridiculously overpriced to start with and they hold their value quite well.

I think the Vec engine is better (diesel) and the build is just slightly better inside, but the Mazdas are bullet proof mech wise, my TS2 did 70000 miles and never went wrong once, and I drove it like I stole it . Spec wise their loaded too, Bose sound, sun roof, full climate control, 6 disk in dash changer, cruise control, traction control, rear electric windows (even my S spec one has these ).

Why did I get a VX? cause I wanted to Chav it for a while, needed a sportier car and loved the looks of the Vectra XP + I could get it in XP nav spec at only £15200 new through fleet discount, although i'm getting screwed on car tax @ £21000 list .

Would I buy a new M6? probably, looks stunning.

Sorry you're all probably bored now

Its the bullet proof build quality that attracts me.Japanese cars have always been well built but have looked terrible.I feel the new Mazda 6 changes that view and now looks similar to a Lexus(which i would love but cannot afford!)

I like them as well, but there's no DTi auto option and you have to remember it is effectively a Ford.

Ford and Mazda are buisness partners, and have been for twenty five years,
The Mazda build quality, and general production methods are unchanged, infact if anything the "Just in time" production methods were originally developed by the Japanese, and in turn adopted by companies like Ford,to help them bring their own production costs down.
But you realy didn't think that the Japanese would adopt American production techniques did you?.........

Thats a fair point, the new Mazda 6 featuring ultra fade Blue coachwork and as you drive aircon panel fit.
