Nah, I'll stick with my hand-built Roberts road racer with full Campagnolo Chorus running gear throughout and Mavic rims!

Ah right, I'm familiar with the Garlic Bread/Peter Kay thing - just still scratching my head with the relevance of it to bikes! LOL

It doesn't have any relevance. Just that the garlic bread speech from Phoenix Nights pops into my demented head everytime 'the future' is mentioned!

    "Garlic bread, it's the future."
"I thought you said children were the future?"
    "Shut it!"

    LOL - you're weird!!! LOL

Getting swiftly back on topic...... I'm happy to stick with 'old fashioned' lightweight steel. Had a few guys at my cycling club who had carbon fibre frames and they all developed problems - they don't seem to have the longevity of steel, or aluminium. Looking to get a mountain bike soon, think I'll be looking at aluminium for that.

    Do you/did you race BTW?

No, never did. Just have this habit of buying stuff I can't afford! I went in the bike shop looking for a new road bike, the ******s gave me a go on this carbon jobbie they had in there and that was that. KERR-CHING!!

If you're ever down Poole and happen to spot a shop called bikelab, don't go in. Your credit card will be smoking when you come out!

    http://www.bikelab.co.uk/

Click on the customlab link and make sure you're wearing a bib.

Nice to see someone else having a weakness for bikes. I love Italian road bikes, Marco Pantani started me off when he rode for Bianchi. Currently waited to after Xmas when I can get a new hardtail mountain bike to replace my much battered Carrera. A new towbar is going on the Signum this week so I can use the towbar mounted cycle carrier over Xmas. I'm itching to take my boy to the Gisburn Forest trail up near us as its rated in the top 10 in the country. He's only 6 and really getting into bikes. (Not that his dad has any bearing on this !!)
