    Default New Phone??, What network??

    Hi Folks,

Just been down to the local Orange Shop and asked `upgrade' my old Nokia 6230, the knob in the shop says `as your a low user, that will be £49' .

I pay £24 a month and get 200 mins any network 100 mins landline and 1000 texts. This is a OLD contract and is not available anymore.

I told him to stuff his phone and walked out, so went into Vodaphone and they
    didn't have a clue..

Went into `3 Shop' and can get a Nokia N95 with 300 mins for £24, I have been on Orange for about 6 years, so has anyone got any views on 3??.
    And the Nokia N95??.

When I looked into 3, I found that they "piggyback" other networks e.g. in Devon they use O2 bandwidth. I got the distinct impression that the signal strength will depend largely on the area you live in. My sister's on 3 and seems very happy. Good deals etc and upgrades. HTH

3 yrs I've been with 3, cannot say one bad thing about them, I got a loyal discount this yr, £16pm 500 X-mins and 100 texts, SE K800i phone, just try to ask someone where you will use the phone if coverage is ok, I do get some black spots on the A3 sometimes, but overall it is the best phone deal I've ever had.

It's always worth ringing your phone company and threatening to leave. They realise you're not going to stop using a mobile so want to keep your business. When I threatened to leave O2, they dropped my line rental by £10 to £15 per month (500 off peak any network minutes and 500 texts) and also gave me £100 cash off my bill because I didn't want an upgrade. It's worth quoting a better deal with another network as they may well match it. If they don't, you move to the other network!

You've got nothing at all to lose.

ive got the n95 8gb, you can get nav software that works with the internal gps aswell, i think skype only works when your connected to the net via a wireless network but im not sure..... i've been with orange since oct 94, cant fault them, i upgrade my phone every year, prior to being with orange i was with vodafone and cellnet (had a mobile or car phone since 88) , i've heard and seen bad things with 3, they seem to suffer from bad network coverage..

    Thanks for the comments guys..

The knob in the shop said to ring Customer Services as they might do a better deal??.

My argument is that I have been a customer for a long time and I would think that they would want to keep me (same as car insurance company's).

I don't know much about 3, so thats why I asked. Also heard that the N95
don't have a very good battery life, but then I don't use the phone a lot.

Got to put the Nokia car kit in the new wheels when I get time.
