    Unhappy kitchen scare yesterday

Karen and i were in the kitchen last night wahsing up etc. i went out the room and then she followed and there was this almighty crash. I ran through to find a 6ft unit full of glasses had fallen off the wall and missed her by a few seconds.

If it had happened 30 mins earlier she was cooking with boiling water and a chip pan right standing right where it landed so what could have happened doesnt bear thinking about.

That's nasty. Had something similar happen at my old work, shelving unit full of CRT monitors and laser printers just collapsed literally 2 seconds after I walked past it. I'd have been flattened.

the kitchens been in for years, she moved in 2 years ago and her friend owned the hous before. looking at the wall theres only 6 screws been keeping it on.

I have 3 buckets full of broken glass but the unit apart from a few bits is in one piece, even the glass doors.

David Wilson Homes etc by any chance? new build houses don't have the wall strength that an old one has, if the fitters didn't get it quite right this does happen, I used 5 inch bolts to hang mine last time I put a kitchen in, so far so good.

I had a similar thing when i redecorated the kitchen... Took all the units down, but when i put the one up which holds the glassware, i missed the two top raw plugs when replacing! End result was over 50 items of glassware completely smashed covering the entire kitchen floor. Every single one shattered... Never seen nothing like it and don't want to again!!

Blimey, that's nasty. More screws and rawlplugs needed, methinks.

I thought one of our halogen lights in the kitchen melting on Xmas day was bad, but that's worse!
