After spending a stupid amount of time researching how to use a rotary properly on the interweb ive been dying to use my Xmas pressie. So today there was a break in rain so I gave he car a quick was and then I broke out the Silverline..... Unforuntaly due to a huge amount of Industrial fallout all over my car, the paintwork is going to have to wait until I get the products to sort this out. Having read a thread on DW in Plastx, thought id give my lights a go. Now after a good clean my headlights looked clean but on inspection they were covered in little chips and swirls.
Forgot the camera so had to use the phone, but if you look closely they are ever so slightly milky.
Proceeded to mask it all up..
Prepped the Megs pad with last touch and applied a ribbon of Plastx to the Headlight and set to work. Started off on 900 rpm and slowly started to polish making sure there was no heat build up. Once the polish started to break down I upped he speed to 1200-1500 rpm and worked the hole face again checking for heat.
Once finished I wiped over with a microfiber and some megs QD.
Now it didn't remove the stone chips but got rid of the milkyness and swirls, for the chips id need to wet sand but I haven't got big enough balls for that yet. The gloss is spot on and really freshens the lights up and makes the SRi lights dark bits very glossy and black.
Again sorry about the pics being fuzzy.
This car has done less than 40k so for all you high milers polishing the lights is defo a good thing for light output performance and looks. Plus Plastx is only £3 at halfords at the moment.
