    Default CDTI, Diesel smell coupe

My father has a new Vectra CDTI, 150bhp

When the car stands still and engine running, there is a smell of diesel. When I use the car I get an headache (I think at least) - only driven it 3 times.

Should there really be this smell of diesel inside the car. I find it very disturbing.

If you leave the car standing for 1-2 minutes the smell is obvious and quite intense. The emissions should come out the tail - or?

Many of you guys drive these cars so please give me some input if yours smell as well?

    Default fumes

    have a read
    http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread...ighlight=fumes

I have had this issue and have had my injector seals replaced. It cured 90% of it and car has been back for further investigation for the final 10%). VX have a diagnosed a cracked catalytic converter ( apparently on these they are not under the car as one would expect but part of the downpipe/manifold section so sits within the engine bay).

Injector seals cost £65 to replace and the proposed cat replacement is costing £500 - both of which have been covered by my 3rd party warranty company

Here's another one for you to look at http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread...ighlight=smell this problem does seem to be quite common, its another option for you to look at anyway.

There are actually 2 CATs in the 1.9 (those without DPF at least), one just under the engine and the other under the car. It is very common to get a strong smell of fumes (sooty) when starting the 1.9s but it should go away very quickly. If the smell gets worse when stationary, then the problem is likely to be in the engine bay as the air for the cabin is drawn from the top of the bonnet.

    Default Diesel smell

    Hi.

I've also suffered this on a 1.9CDTi 150. The cause was a crack in the fuel filter casing. (This is the black cylindrical thing fixed high up on the middle of the bulkhead in the engine bay)

The car smelt of diesel when stationary but was OK when moving along. you could also smell fuel when opening the bonnet. With the engine running have a feel round for leaks and a sniff round the fuel filter also look for drips on the steering rack below it.

    Hope you get this sorted.
