    Default General question on respraying

I need to respray my other car.

Question is, how much paint will I need to buy? I will equate it to Vectra size without doing the roof (Car to be resprayed has no roof !)

Anyone have any ideas on quantity needed?

Got the spray gear already (well, actually my mate has !)

Also, cellulose based or other ? Advice welcome, colour will be bright yellow. I really like the BMW Mini yellow...

    eg

This car though, without the hats !

Could someone photoshop the colour for me, please !, Please !

no idea about the spraying, sorry. But nice car.

When I was growing up my dad worked for what was BL selling all of their brands including TRs MGs etc. I always loved the Stag best of all.

Is 2 pack the way forward then for me? Or should I stick with cellulose? I haven't got any booth or oven or anything other than spray equipment and some space to do it.

Paint it two pack acrylic. It's a 2:1 mix (plus thinners)

For a car that size you'll need:

    2 litres of base.

    1 litre of activator.

    1 litre of thinners.

Your friend will be happy with this.

does it need baking? Is it OK to spray? Do I need any protective equipment? ANy ideas where to get it from?

Clearly I am new to this respraying game !

Approx cost? Would BMW Mini yellow be easy to get? It looks a great colour

You're looking at no ore than £80 all in Ste.

These lads are very good. They'll give you some great advice over the phone should you need it. I use them regularly. Here's the page for the 2 pack acrylics :

    http://www.auto-paint.co.uk/SHOP/ind...aboutus.html&1

It doesn't need to be baked but does need a warm atmosphere to be sprayed at. It goes on lovely as long as you add a little more thinners between coats. 3 coats should do it.

The good thing is, if you get any crap in it (which sounds inevitable in your case) you can polish it out.

There's only one problem with not working in a dedicated facility: Health and Safety.

You DO need breathing air to use this paint safely. It's carcinogenic when mixed. It's against EU regs for it to be sprayed in a non-specialist environment too.

Your alternative would be to use straight single-pack cellulose but it will look crap.
