    Default Speeding Mate

My mate (26) went to court on Tuesday for speeding,
he was caught on A1M in his Subaru Imprezza by a unmarked car, copper sat doing paperwork and mate went by in his Scooby (owned for 3 days) it took the BMW M6? 29 miles to catch him, sat him and showed the video to him ,132 mph average speed.
    Mate got >.................................
........ 28 day ban,£400 fine, no points ....Lucky i think??
As he is a owner of an Electrical Contracting company he is off to do a job in Poland for next 4 weeks, so he does not have to drive..Sorted

His mum was none to happy though...

thought 31mph over the speed limit on any road was an instant 12 month ban minimum ?

wouldn't say lucky, to be honest, to have an average of 132mph is just plain irresponsible, be it 2am or whatever...

he was only in court for driving in excess of the speed limit of the road in question, not for dangerous driving or any thing else, the copper even commented on his good driving skills.

i agree its stupid at that speed, and i told him that he would get at least 6 months ban or prison possibly. but maybe the £800 a day solictor was just good at her job.

sounds like the copper was just as much of a **** then.

What doesnt fit though... 28 miles to catch him, surely if he passed him at such speeds, they would have proceeded with lights, and if he failed to stop then that's a far more serious offence, especially since you say the copper was in an M6, not exactly slow are they ?!

however, wonder if he had hit, say a family car, family, young kids in the car, etc at that speed and got off lighter than he should have, would you be on here "my mates so lucky, got caught speeding, killed a family, etc... how lucky was he" ?!

Your mate must be doing well for himself to afford a Scooby and an £800 a day solicitor.....
