Default Working for a Foreign Company...

It's looking pretty certain that in very the near future i am gonna be changing jobs and going to work for a company in Switzerland running back and forth between Swiss and the UK..

However, i have a small concern..

How do i stand for getting Mortgage's and such like whern the company i work for is not based in the UK and doesnt have a UK office. I will pay UK National Insurance and the tax is all sorted out legally so no problems in that department, i was just wondering how i stood in regard to Credit Checks and such like..

Basically, am i going to show up on a National Database as being unemployed??

    Right,I am not directly but..

I cannot remember exactly how it works, but something like the country you work in, contributes to the UK the amount a percentage of the tax you earn over there...
The English and Dutch have been working this way for years in the driving industry.

i'm no expert, but as long as you have proof of income ( bank statements etc to show regular payments ), a checkable work history ( letters from employers) and tax paid against your NI number, then you should be fine...

i wark abraod and as long as you have bank statements or if there is some sort of accountant dealing with your wages over the that should be proof enough to the mortgage company of your income to base a mortgage on.
    hope this helps

I work for a Swiss company (24 yrs) and they are generally pretty good employers. The thirteen month salary business is great for all the Crimbo expenditure. Hope they give good private health coverif you're under Swiss conditions, get them to pay the UK BUPA......

Shouldn't be a problem - I had no issues with mortgage in the past just needed a letter from the company plus some supporting info such as statements. A bit of a time ago, though.

    Best of luck
