How to remove front cupholder?

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to remove the insert (with the shape of the 2 cups) in the front cupholder (MY08) and what's under it? Is there a open space or is there a bottompiece. Because i would like to create a space to keep a Ipod permanantly in my car.

Yes It can be removed.....never done it myself....I guess you just pull the thing out.
Someone that has done it will be more specific than me

Easy mate. Sit in the drivers seat, put your hand on it with your fingers hooked over the back and just pull up, a bit of wiggling and its out. Underneath though is the ducting for the rear vents so not too much room. There is a different insert though that is far wider.
EDIT. One here mate, the middle bit comes out.
