    Default Digital Camera

    WOW!

We've had a 3.2(ish) megapixel digital snappy camera thing for a couple of years now, and thought it was time to replace it, as buttons have gone a bit wibbly etc.

I'm no photographer and we only use the camera for silly sht, but thought I'd get with the age and go for 8 or 10 megapixels.......until I went into Currys and saw a 12meg Kodak Easyshare for half price, £150!!!!

    So I bought it.

    And its brilliant!

In summary, if your after a new digital camera and your not a pro (like Duncan, who has a large lense apparantly!) then Currys still have these online.....well worth £150.

Sorry to burst your bubble but megapixels mean nothing, just because it has 12mp dosent mean it will take better pictures than a 7mp, its all in the quality of the lens and optics in the camera as well as software

Not saying its a bad camera its just people assume that more pixels mean better pictures , thats why there is a megapixel race.

Ive had Kodaks in the past and they are a good camera.

Im looking to get the Panasonic FX33 as it has a wide angle lens and Inteligent Auto & face detection as im crap at taking pictures

Know what you mean deanos, have just purchased a new camera the Nikon s200,great little compct design and only 7.1 mega pixels, but boy what great shots it takes, only cost £89.99 was originaly on sale for £179.99,got it just before Christmas....

Think you've just got to read a few review's on them and not take the pixel rate into consideration.........

Like most people I'm not really bothered about picture quality - TBH all modern digital cameras are VERY good, its more of an ego rating kinda thing....and its black!

Read a few reviews after I bought it and Kodak Easyshare are pretty well thought of so I'm happy....

Deano, this has auto face detection thingy! (oh, where in Lincs you at?)

My initial point of this thread was to say, what a bargain, and what a great camera, not 12 is better than 8 or anything!

Lets have a compare, here's a 4pm shot with my Konica Minolta Dimage G400

My loan bucket, it didn't look like this when I got it btw.

Beauty of this camera is it isn't interpolated, so you get what it says on the tin from it, 3 yrs on and i still don't have any desire to replace it.

I've still got a 4mp Canon G2 that I bought 5 years ago, the results are stunning at 7x5 prints, I've printed to A3 & judges have commented on the quality. I've also got a 12.8mp SLR & the quality from that is amazing but the sensor is huge & that means very little noise unlike most 10+mp compacts. You've obviously bought it as a shiny gadget rather than the tool it should be if your not bothered about picture quality.
