    Default Irmscher exhaust

Need some guidance guys. Do you need to advise your insurance company that you have fitted a Irmscher dual exhaust system to your motor

The motor has dual std back boxes anyhow!

I'll probably be corrected here, but I reckon the answer is no. You are not putting anything extra on the car to increase its value or its attractability, you are merely putting on new back boxes. If it was the case that you had to inform your insurance about every change then where would it end. For example, if your car comes from the factory with Goodyear tyres on and you then put Michelins on, you don't need to tell your insurance (obviously you will need to keep the spec correct, speed rating, load index etc) 'cause they are a direct replacement. That's my view anyway. I may or may not be wrong HTH a bit

I would say not, depends how you explain them to the insurance company.... My insurer asked me if I had modified my car and I told them that I had a spoiler and grille which are dealer fit options.... they said they would not count these as modifications, so no load on my premium!!!

    hi guys

anything thats fitted to the car ie- irmscher styling etc thats not
a factory fitted item then its classed as a modification and the insurance
company will not pay out for them items to be replaced as it deters thieves
more unless you do tell them they have been fitted on,obviously your
insurance will go up but you will be surprised how much it only is in which
it would be worth payin the little extra but who does tell the ins company
that everytime you fit extras i`d say if your only fitting few bits
to the car then don`t bother informing them but if they get stolen off the
car then it`ll be down to you to replace them.

    cheers

You are supposed to tell them about every modification, I would say the Exhausts are definately reportable . Gary`s point about tyres is interesting, if they are listed in the hanbook as Goodyears and you put on Michelins you are supposed to tell your insuranec co. Crazzzyyy ....

just told them about my new alloys and its cost me an extra £100 !!!! (on a £500 policy). At least im legal though. Sort of. (not declared my chrome mirror cover or door handle covers) Thats with churchill.

When i had a write off with my old Sri v6 the inpsector was just the bodyshop manager. He didnt even mentin that it had facelift bumpers on, 16" irmscher alloys or facelift rear lights. And he even said it was worth £500 more than i did lol. That was with direct line, so they arent all bad.

i'm with vauxhall insurance and got charged an extra £70 for my irmy grille and rear spoiler. I didnt tell them about the 18"s as they are a factory fir option for the sri anyway so i fihured i could blag that.

need to tell them about my stereo but shouldnt cost as i have £1000 audio cover as part of my policy anyway

A bit of a mixed bag there guys! The reason I ask is the last time I fitted alloys to my previous Vectra (std motor had no alloys) I informed the Ins Co and was charged £70 extra on my premium. Think I will let them know to be on the safe side. They have got you all ways these Ins Companies.
