    Default g'day

been a lurker for a while and finally decided to join. Just ordered a now discontinued in Australia Holden ZC Vectra CDXi. Not sure what the equivilant spec car is in the UK but its a June 2005 build with 3.2 petrol engine, auto, 17inch wheels with the tinted headlights, full leather with 8 way electric front seats etc etc

this is my 2nd ZC and 4th Holden badged opel. Wife had a TS Astra CD which we sold for a ZC Veccie CD (2.2lt auto) which she didnt like so we sold that and purchased an AH Astra CDX wagon. I just got rid of a Commodore SS which is the 4 door version of the Vauhall Monaro over there I believe.

anyway I take delivery of the car this week sometime, just as soon as the lease company releases it to me. The ZC line has been discontinued in Australia by Holden who have replaced it with a cheapo GM Korea sourced butterbox.

I bought a Panacotta coloured model - anyone got any pics of this thing in the flesh? They have miserable resale values here - partly because Holden keep slashing the price. I paid $37k AUD on the road with a full electric sunroof and window tint which is good buying considering the exact same car would have been about $55k AUD on the road in 2003 when they were first launched here.

anyway - here I am on the forum.

    G'day kojarena

As you will see in my sig the GSI & GTS are the equivilant models in the UK & EU. Yeah our great cars have taken a bit of a beating here as Holden have simply failed in there efforts to price it correctly at the start.

Have you seen the pics of the Korean tin can that Holden may replace the Vectra with....? The day the American Mooney took over the reigns of Holden from the brilliant German Hanenberger a year ago who introduced the Veccy & Astra here, was the day we lost the best quality Holden ever. Sad days indeed.

hey everyone - thanks for the warm welcome. Looking forward to contributing where possible and learning as much as I can similarly. Will get some pics of the car when it arrives this week and post.

as an aside I was told by someone at Holden that I shouldnt put an aftermarket sunroof in the car as it interferes with the CANBus. Sounds like bollucks as the ppl putting it in actually are the holden factory install contract holders. Anyone know any different?

Holden have got some serious problems on their hands - i have just come out of 3 years with a GM USA subsidiary and its looking pretty bad for all of GM's brands globally. I spent Jan/Feb at GM in Detroit and you can see the situation they are in first hand by visiting that town and seeing the downturn.

Yes - I have seen the Magnus or EPica or whatever they are going to call the Korean mid sizer replacing the Vectra. Its an interesting looking car and they will sell by the boat loads because they are cheap.

Holden really made a mistake selling the Veccies so expensive from the beginning. BUT in their defense - the only other Holden on the market with a 5 speed auto, ESP Plus, six airbags (maybe not even 6) and a six cylinder is a VZ Calais. Just having come out of a VY II SS with so many problems I have decided to give the big holdens a break for a while. Poor quality and very very bad resale. I looked at a Subaru liberty but for a six auto i was having to pay over 50k which I swore I would never spend on a car ever again after losing 20k on the SS in 18mths.

    Where in Sydney are you?
