    Default Hi, Jed here, new member.

    I've had my Vectra 1.8 Club, 2002, 71000 miles, for about 18 months and it's the most expensive car I've owned, to run, that is! Cost me about £1000 in the first year, would have been more but for the warranty period. I like to do whatever I can on my cars, but that's becoming more difficult as they get more technical. It's great to drive, nippy and reasonable handling, but thirsty on short trips. Good size, takes most loads without complaint, seems to like being loaded. Problems seem to keep coming, though. First was tyre replacement due to wear on inside edges at rear. Brake pads at rear. Front pads, what about those wear sensors needing replacing at the same time? ECU has been replaced to cure management light appearing at times. Track rod end replaced to cure rattle. Rear upper arms, same problem. Noisy suspension over speed bumps. Power steering light now on, but steering seems ok. Exhaust needed soon and probably shocks, not too many I hope!

    As for the problems mentioned...I think is not so bad for a 2002 model mate. Everithing wears off by the uses and the years, except the ECU which I think is not as good as it should be.
    Maybe the power steering light is on because is low on fluid or.....a faulty CIM (I think that is how is called) HTH

    Ok, where is the fluid reservoir? I've had a quick look and can't see anythng obvious. Does it share with the brakes? What is the sensor detecting, anything else I can check? What's a CIM? I appreciate the car is starting to wear, but it just short of three years old when I got it and I wouldn't expect everything to go at once. Anyone got a Haynes manual for these cars, if so, is it worth having for anything more than taking off trim? I find they give less and less useful info as time goes by, you know, take car to a dealer etc.
