    Default Steamy windows

I am having problems with my car windows steaming up, it dissapears when I switch the air-con on, doesn't need the blowers on, just the air-con button switched on.

but as soon I switch the air-con off it steams up again.

    any ideas?

Try replacing your pollen filter mate.

And if that doesnt work try RainX's Anti Fog, got it on all my interior windows and not a drop of condensation or steam even on cold mornings, which is every morning in Scotland!!!

    few things:

make sure retoric air isn't on
then try turning the heating on full and drying the filters out (takes a while at full heat)
if these dont work, change the pollen filter
if you still have a problem you may have an internal leak

Deffo the cabin / pollen filter mate. Mine was really bad for steaming up. I checked the service book and the dealer will only change at 20,000 miles. I only had 14,000 so thought it would be ok but when I pulled it out it was black and wet, even had bugs living in it, full of leaves etc. Sometimes they can get damp and this is what causes windows to steam up. Made a fab difference as no more steam!! BTW - dealers usually DONT change even if you are at the millage, you need to request

When I'm checking the tyre pressures I often take it out and blow it thru gently with the airline. They're only about a tenner from your local motorist shop anyway.

I was having this problem but rememberd reading that the Pollen Filter can cause it so orderd one of ebay and fitted it. My old filter was black as coal and crammed with bits etc, but now its fine. Annoying thing is I had a service at the dealers in September and was charged for a new one so the brown smelly stuff is going to hit the fan

I've been getting steamy windows for a few months now and couldn't work out why.......this week my passenger got wet feet....now I know why!!

What I found was the passenger footwell carpet and mat was drenched to the point that it was like a soggy sponge. I poked about to find the pollen filter, pulled off the rubber seal along the back edge of the bonnet opening and on the passenger side are two slits that form a flap hiding the pollen filter. Found the drain at the bottom of the filter chamber completely blocked with dirt, bits of leaves and dead insects. This means that any heavy rain/carwashing water will accummulate and overflow through the filter and heater body into the cabin. Sorted. Just need to dry it all out now!!

(Car was serviced a couple of months ago and a new filter fitted, why didn't they clean out the muck? Your guess is as good as mine....lazy b*st*rds))
