Default Wish i'd never clapped eyes on this car!

Some of you may remember that my Vectra C 1.9CDTi Sri went into the stealers 2 weeks ago to have the smell of diesel fumes through the airvents diagnosed.

2 weeks later and I still have their poxy 1.4 astra courtesy car and have just been told that they can't remove one of the injector seals that they think maybe the culprit. They have already replaced an injector they think was faulty but this hasn't rectified the problem.

They are now suggesting it could be a cracked head - is this possible?!

The car drove fine before they had and I had no other complaint apart from the smell of diesel through the vents!

My first thought is have they damaged the head while trying to remove the stuck oil seal?

My question is if the car had a cracked head would I know about it? surely it wouldn't drive right and the ECU would make a fuss?

Any advice will be much appreciated.......

Depending where the crack is situated (if there is one !!), It may not make any difference to the cars daily drive or make it identifiable to the Ecu, But it sounds strange & almost like a stab in the dark diagnosis !!.

I drove a Vectra-c Estate Cdti & that once it got going had a diesel fuel smell entering into the cabin, When i used my sniffer dog techniques it was definately coming from the pump area (Top left hand corner of the engine as you are stood infront of the car looking at it).

It put me off buying it in the end as the garage said there was nothing wrong. Admittedly there were no leaks, Just the vapour smell.

    Hope it gets sorted.

i would say it sounds more like a fuel leak some place , it is amazing how little diesel will cause a smell inside the car , or even an exhaust leak
