    Default Car tyre choices

I know there are loads of threads about tyre choices, sorry
I will need to get a set of tyres soon.
    I need some recommendations please.
I've just been to the local tyre place we use & there's two sorts of tyres I may go for.

    Size: 225/45 17

    Michelin Primacy HP

    Goodyear Eagle GSD3

My car originally on the 16" wheels had standard tyres.
The 17" SRI wheels came with extra load ones fitted.
Surely I wouldn't need the extra load tyres as it's only the 1.8?

Just wondering what people's experience is with these, noise, life, etc?

Actually only on the 3.0 AUTO oil burner, but it is very wise to fit XL's to them as you pointed out

Continental SP-03's as currently fitted to the new porche and m3!!!

They are great in all whether conditions as they have an AA rating for grip, and my last set lasted 25,000 miles.

Cheers Mark the GSD's are cheaper than the Michelins

I am running on Michelin Primacy HP 225/45X17's.

They are a really good tyre in both dry and wet conditions, and no noticeable difference in road noise from the 215/50 NCT5's that were originally fitted.

I had the Michelins fitted on 5th May at 16,676 miles.
I have driven on them for 12,548 miles and I have just gone out with the tread depth gauge and they still have 6mm remaining on them!!

They had 8mm when new so if they carry on wearing at that rate, then they potentially have another 25,000 miles on them.

I strongly believe that with tyres you pay for what you get.
They are expensive to start with but they wear superbly, and yet still give good roadholding/grip etc etc.
