Whilst rummaging for info I found this.

    http://www.gminsidenews.com/index.php?page=trans_guide

We may want to think twice before putting more than 295 lb/ft of torque through our F40s ! Obviously with the F40 being a European box '40' stands for 400NM.The F35 is rated at 258 lb/ft. approx 350NM.Saab used the F35 on its 3 litre diesel 95 and it was de-torqued to suit!

So the Astra 888 is being sold with more torque than the gearbox can handle? (330lbft - 447.15NM) I don't think they would take that risk.

They seem to be taking one hell of a risk!

The gearboxes aren't that clever anyway and I wouldn't like to think that I was going 10% over of 'not too clever'!

I was under the false impression that the F40 gearbox was rated at 400 lb/ft.If I'd have known otherwise,no way would I have put a tuning box on it.

I for one can't afford the £1700 for a new one, particularly now that the warranty has run out.My V6 is already at the limit (it's a pre-facelift,but apparently the software upgrades take it up to the same power and torque as the newer ones) and there it will stay for the sake of reliability.

I'd often wondered why Vauxhall only upped the power to 184 bhp-295 lb/ft torque, and now I know why!

    You have been warned!

Strange the gearbox ratios aren't in the technical specification, Ford have them in the brochure for the Mondeo

Sadly my car does not have its EU conformity certificate, otherwise I could have used that
I do however have a copy EU conformity certificate
This also confirms that imported Vectra SRI have their speedo setup for 215/55R16 tyres :
    Wheels F/R: 6.5J x 16 / 6.5J x 16
    Tyres front: 215/55 R 16V

    Anyway, here we go :

    Transmission 6M
    Drive FWD
    Key:
FWD: Front Wheel DriveRWD: Rear Wheel DriveAWD: All Wheel Drive4WD: Four Wheel Drive
    Top gear ratio 0.62
    Final drive ratio 3.55

    Transmission 5A
    Drive FWD
    Key:
FWD: Front Wheel DriveRWD: Rear Wheel DriveAWD: All Wheel Drive4WD: Four Wheel Drive
    Top gear ratio 1.00
    Final drive ratio 2.23

    Thanks for that.

Interestingly,if those ratios are correct, the V6 diesel would be doing approx 172 mph at 5,000 rpm! More likely it could maybe manage 154 at 4,500 or 138 at 4,000.All purely academic, but could score points down the pub.

I'd still like to know what the other 5 ratios are,and if the final drive ratio is correct for the V6.

Thanks to Central Scotland Police I recently had my 3.0 V6 CDTI up to 145mph, downhill on the M876 westbound
I noted that the revs were no where near maximum, and the engine felt like it was restricted / limited by revs in 6th gear
Quite a different feeling in 5th gear, so I will need to arrange that for a few weeks time

Central Scotland Police also have a 3.0 V6 CDTI, which is a white estate, but my car definitely has the edge on it
At the end of session briefing it was noted that the estate had less acceleration uphill and once the speed was above 110mph
