Default Phone number for Ministry of Transport Inspector

    Hi
I had my car serviced at my local main dealer on Friday and on the drive home I thought the brakes were a bit spongy. I phoned them and was advised to take it back on the Saturday, which I did. The reception got the techy that did the job to have a look at it and I was informed that it was new pads on old disks. Come back in about 100 miles if it was no different.

With the engine off you can pump up the brake pedal, with the engine running if you brake hardish the pedal is possibly less than an inch away from the floor. I phoned today and explained this again and was told the Service Manager was in a meeting and he would return the call, which he didn't.

As I work with skilled army mechanics that deliver apprenticeships to Vehicle Mechanics I had one of them look at it and was told that it shouldn't be on the road.

    Any thoughts chaps?

    Gordon

it's a vacumn problem, where the diesels don't really pump the same as a petrol's manifold derived vacumn...so the suffer from sinking brake pedals if you keep the pedal under foot pressure...
