    Default 1.9CDTI Crunchy gearbox

I'm still new to the Veccy, so I'm not sure whether its me or not, but when I changed from 1st to 2nd fairly quickly (i.e pulling away from junction) the second gear seems to crunch and resist a bit. Third and fourth are a little notchy but OK otherwise.

I've searched the forums and gather that its the F40 geabox. Thing is, my car has 59k on it and is out of warranty. Is there a fix to this or is my geabox/clutch knackered?

my car does it and when you try putting it down to 2nd is it stiff i thought gear box was going to go AGAIN but veccy stealers said nothing wrong and got them to put it in writing

Yeah, mine definitely crunches going into second - made worse by the fact second gear is at a slightly offset angle, not 'straight back' from first like my last car.

just have a quick nip into vx stealers and it cost me £70 for them link it to machine and test drive it but thats cheaper than £500 for a new box because you have there word on paper to say nothing is wrong

Its a 54 plate so no warranty anyway! Might get the local garage to check it out when its in for the cambelt change service at 70k (in about 6 months for me)

no it dont matter if you take it to vauxhall get them to put there name aginst it being ok (on paper) then if it does go within a certain period than you can take it to them and they should foot most of the bill

Cheers, I might do that instead - worth it for a bit of insurance. Do Vx have a longer warranty or known issue with these F40 gearboxes then?
