    Default Canbus - what is it?

    Can someone explain in simple terms please, what the Canbus system is that many of you refer to?

    Think of it as networked electrics. In pre-CANBUS cars every electrical item in the car had it's own cables running back to a central module. Which mean depending on spec of the car you'd need different wiring looms, or leave parts of the looms unused.

    Now there's just a single data cable and power cable looping around the car. Means there's much less cabling, and one loom fits all cars.

    To fricking complicated!!! That's what CAN is. Various computers round the car all talking to each other.
    Designed so owners can't work on their OWN cars.
