    Default HELP smelly brakes

    Hi,
I have just had my rear brake disks and pads changed by a local garage. But i went out today and drove around 50miles pulled up put my handbrake on and clunk seems to be missing a click or sumit, then when i got out the car i could smell sumit coming from the brakes that had just been done and the alloy wheels are hot any ideas what it might be.

    Cheers

take it back mate, they're binding. They should not be getting so hot that they are smelling

Not sure if the veccy handbrake is a drum brake im sure someone will clarify this but it could have been that they have not adjusted the handbrake shoes acordingly?

Ask them if they fitted genuine pads or pattern ones....

If they fitted pattern ones, then i had quite a big problem with mine whichis easily rectified as the pads are fitted the wrong way round, even though they look like they are fitted the right way round..

Ther Vectra handbrake runs off the caliper, not inboard shoes like some older Vauxhall's..
