    Default Window Tinting Advice?

I am thinking about getting the two rear windows, quarters and rear screen tinted
Has anyone got any experience with this i.e. level of tint to still be legal?

My main worries are a possible poor finish, bubbles etc, and will it start peeling if you use the rear screen demister?
How long are these tints generally guaranteed for?

    Any advice would be appreciated

u can have it as dark as u want from the b piller back

if u use a proper window tinting company then u should have no proplems at all the cost for the tints should be around the 160 pounds .

your vehicle can be tinted as dark as you like on the rear doors quarter glass and rear screen , the film should last a life time depending on the price you pay as with most things you pay for what you get and the concerns you had with bubbling and cracking are more or less the same you pay for what you get with the installation

I have had 2 sets of tints on my Vec now, both done by a professional fitter. Teh first set were great, had them on just shorts of 2 years and then I smashed my rear window so had to get it redone.

I took it back to the same place and they said my others had faded. The tint they had used had complaints about it worldwide and got pulled by the manufacturer. I got all my tints replaced for free under their warranty.

My 2nd set are even better than the first, if you have them done by a reputable place your will not see a bubble, they do not peel either.

If the place is good they tell you (like mine did) not to wind you windows for 2 days afterwards, and not to use your de-mister for 1 month. Follow these rules and I have not had any issues. They also gave me some cleaning fluid and a couple of cloths to clean the tints with aswell. This has 2 uses, one obviously to clean the glass/tint and the second it helps the tint glide down when opening the window.

As long as you care for them like any other piece of you car they are well worth the money.

As for legalities there are plenty of threads on it. The max on the front side windows is 70% I believe, which the SRi I believe already has. There are no limits for the back sides and rear. You can you to 0% but if you have kiddies I would not advise this.

I have 20% on the sides and 10% on the back window, and when it is dusky the back of the car is fairly dark. At night you can hardly see through the rear window at all.

Check out my pic in the link in my sig below.

Thanks for the replies, car looks great Damian

I might go for 10 or 20% at the sides and 10% at the back, I think that looks good
I have kids so I still want them to be able to see out of the windows

I have found a place near me in Northampton that sounds good, he has been doing it since 1999 and does many of the new cars for the dealers
