    Default Overtightened wheel nuts

    Here's an interesting one...

Had both front tyres changed yesterday, managed to get 2 x 215.50.17 95W for 230quiddlies, first changed ok, but second wheel, wheel nut snapped off when they were undoing it!.... This was the first time the wheels had ever been off. Thery managed to get the snapped shaft out pretty quickly withough drilling. Luckily i had 4 spare ones due to the locking nuts being fitted.

They mentioned this had happened to other veccys, and that the nuts were overtightened from the manufacturers..

This made me think, god help anyone who might need to change one at the side of the road!..

    Anyone else had this?

I had mine replaced yesterday, and the guy who did them asked if I'd ever taken a wheel off before, as they'd had a few problems. Mine has had it's first service, so they've been off before, I think. They didn't have any problems, apart from me not being able to find the locking wheelnut key!
I had Goodyear Eagles fitted, just because it was easiest.

When I had my wheels taken off they had to take a piece of wood and a mallet to them, the bolts were ok but the wheels were corroded to the hubs, It took 20 minutes to remove one of them, I would have been stuffed If I had a puncture at the side of the road ..

Have had lots of trouble with VX wheel bolts on veccys mainly the over tight issue biggest downer was the fact that some t1t had tightened my locking wheel nuts up with an airgun which just wrecked the key when used. Had to get VX to take them off,and they still refused to replace the locknuts cos they didnt supply the car new, Its down to that dealer for doing a shoddy PDI so when i had my new wheels fitted got some thatchem wheel nuts much better

Have also struggled with wheels sticking to the hubs but a small coat of copper grease on the hub face sorts that out .

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!
