    Angry Where do I stand..Insurance

As many are aware, my car was vandalised earlier this year by some idiot keying it..it was that bad that it had to be sorted on insurance..
basically car went in for repairs in august and to cut a long story short they messed up the colour match and after lots of complaining and engineers reports and twoing and froing to try and sort it etc the insurance agreed to respray the whole car...

Car went in again on 7th December..and was told 2 weeks..phoned before xmas when they promised and car wasnt done..then promised between xmas and new year..surprise surprise it didnt come back on time...when I spoke to them new years eve they told me middle of last week..wed just gone!..
had a few moans to insurance and management company again and got a call yesterday saying it was 'almost' complete and would hopefully be back middle of next week..
In the time it has been with them, they also managed to break the centre break light and cant get hold of one til 27th feb...after 45 mins on phone yesterday I located one in stock in cambridge with the help of vx parts.. and they are sorting sending it in the post..

After much argueing with them before the 7th dec they agreed to waver the xs as a good will gesture.. but now..over a month without my car and a hyundai getz for company it is wearing thin...
the insurance has now been transfered over as it lapsed on 1st dec so no longer with them but want to know how i stand, or likelyhood of compensation from them etc for the pathetic job and time they have so far done..

    rant over..advice welcome...

If you have legal protection on your policy, then contact the number for that
This should cover all your additional costs

Is the car being resprayed by a dealership or the Insurers own crash repair agent?
Personally, I am never using a crash repair agen ever again, I specify it on my policies that any and all repairs will be carried out only by a dealership

simpathy for you mate its a pain dealing with any insurance company especially as your not with them anymore but i might be wrong on this but as they have said and are doing the what they said they are, and also giving you a car, it seems like they are fullfilling there part of the deal although its taking longer than said,........... i had a right problem last year and wrote to the ombusman and although i thought i was in the right as i has written evedence of the wrong doing of my insurance company it turned out the insurance company won anyway due to " extemporanius notes on there system( yeah right)........................ good luck anyhow.

its at there own bodyshop/repair centre unfortunately...
been back to them god knows how many times but they were pants and ended up with a two tone car and it had to go back to them to be rectified, in the end total respray!
as for costs etc i racked these up when i had to travel 140 mile round trip to the dealership i bought it from and travel/petrol costs to see independant specialists and also a lot of time on the phone to various people regarding the work...As i moaned and carried on like hell they said they would compensate me afterwards but told them it wasnt good enough and wanted my xs wavered which in the end they did, but this was before my car went back in and now its been in there over a month and no sign of it coming back, plus they have knackered the centre break light in the process...

to be honest I have managed to get the xs wavered.. so any further compensation would be quite unlikely..just hope the insurance company get some money back from the garage as a penalty!... but over a month for a respray is just not on..no matter how much complaining i do...
lets just hope that it will be back by mid week or I am gonna seriously kick some ass..
