Default Virgin Media - problem with Broadband

Converted yesterday to VM, with TV, BB and phone.

    TV and phone work OK.

BB not so. So using old connection still.

When registering it comes up with it cannot detect the cable modem (even though it comes up with the Virgin web page to register and the LAN network status shows IO traffic ! ! !)

Tried calling the help line but got no answer (maybe office hours only)
The Ethernet port on the PC shows a green light for the carrier and the lights on the modem box show the right ones too.

    GRRRR.

Any help from The Vec-C community?

Hardwired, and I've tried the 'turn it off and on again' standard IT first pass help. lol

    it's all new.

They didn't say anything about ringing them to do anything. The blurb says to activate it on-line, as I am trying to do....... at - - - activation.virginmedia.com

I'm on Virgin....Service is fine ATM.....Is your modem a Speedtouch?

Mine sometimes packs in for no reason, but unplug and plug it back in and its OK.

    Not speedtouch on Virgin.

The old connection used one though.

If you are using USB cable, scrap it and use the Ethernet cable it will work right away.
