Thumbs up Using your iPod in your car...

Well... I have finally found a decent way of using my iPod in the car..

I have tried FM Tuners and they were not too bad, the iTrip being the best of them, but i was forever changing the frequencey settings on it...

So, out and about shopping today, i saw one of the old style ways of putting your Walkman/Discman in your car, You know, the white cassette with a wire coming out of it on a Phono jack Plug...

It was only cheap so i thought i'd give it a whirl..

It is pretty damn good, Not perfect, i'd be lying if i said it was, but it plays constantly at the same quality, and as long as you have the volume of your iPod at maximum(Then adjust it using your car stereo volume controls) you dont get any hissing through it either..

The only down side is you have the wire draped accross the dashboard, nut i am off to Halfords in the morning to get a cheap Mobile Phone holder, then i shall run the wire behind the switches with any luck and keep the most of it hidden.

All in all not a bad result for a fiver!

Possible when you replace Vx's factory fitted cd player, otherwise you're stumped. Never been impressed with the fm transmitters, I can't understand why I can get good quality sound from a radio station 20 miles away, and shyte sound from an fm transceiver just a few inches away.

Yep it confuses me too..(part of the reason i looked for an alternative)

I am lucky, i have a Vx CCR2006 in mine, so have the luxury of the tape player and the 4 disc changer, and now my iPod!

Im sure there's a fm modulator that actually plugs into your aerial port, with the Aeriel then plugging into that, so in affect the mp3 player is hard wired into your HU, the sound quality is supposed to be quite good from this type.

My iTrip is awesome... good quality sound and such a wide band of frequencies on it that i've been able to find a channel that get me to work and back (30 miles each way) without any interference.

to be honest, the tape adaptors have always been best.... FM tramsmitters are limited in power by legislations and RCA gives quite a sh*t signal, the only decent way to be honest is probably to get an aftermarket ipod adapor for something like an alpine stereo.... doubt you get em for the vauxhalls standard stereos

Could you not take the stereo out, pop the lid off, route the lead out the back that way and whilst you got it out how about releasing the fascia slightly to tip it forwards making the cassette flap snap shut. I take it you got no intention on using the tape deck or taking it out again are you.
