i know the 2.2 has 6 but has the 1.8 vvt?
5 hth
Don't think so m8, only 5 on the 1.8's
Only got 5 in my VVTi......6 if you count reverse.
How many do you need??
1.8 is slow and imo undepowered for a car of that size. Great when you get it rolling but can take some time to get upto motorway speeds
I would disagree with you.
I cant speak for the earlier 1.8's but the 1.8 VVTi is quite a nice engine.
It's not going to set any records but it motors along OK.
It has 140BHP and 0-60 is 10 seconds. OK not a road rocket but I have never had any problems keeping up with and passing traffic in mine.
It returns me mid 30's MPG which is quite a lot better than the 2.2direct and I think the engine is quite a nice balance of power/MPG.
Official fuel figures are 39.2mpg for the VVTi and 36.2mpg for the direct. (combined figures)
My mate has a 150CDTi Signum, and was quite surprised how quick the VVTi engine was.
I am happy with it, and am glad I didnt pay the extra £££ to get a 2.2Direct over my VVTi.
is the 1.8i vvt same as the 1.8 vvti?
The 1.8VVT is a nice little engine. In an Astra. Pretty dire in the Vectra, wasn't impressed with it at all.
For the extra 15hp, and loss of a few mpg the 2.2Direct is better. 6-speed, timing chain, no Double Vanos to go wrong...
Whats a double vanos?
