Default Who Gets These Error Checkers ?

The one when you open a page it jumps in, announces your isp and O/S and then goes on to tell you you have 9845 errors waiting to be fixed, aslong as you send $49.99 to some server on the other side of the world, all masked up in a windows lookalike page.

Close it and don't let it touch your machine, I did run one once and on the next re-boot I got NTLDR missing message and ended up re-formatting that drive.

They aren't an error checker - they are spyware at least or virus at worst. Just having them shows you were infected. NTLDR is the new technology file loader that tells windows where the boot sector is located on the hard disk. You can write a new boot sector - sometimes works.

As above VV it's spyware and popups. Run some adware software to remove the spyware and the popups will stop.

Install and run CrapCleaner (search under Google). Then AVG antivirus (WWW.Grisoft.com) the best free Anti-virus out there. Install ZoneAlarm (again, free) then do "start - control panel- add/remove programs and look for anything unfamiliar. Delete anything that is. if you find that you've deleted a program you use just re-install it. If all that fails search for a root cleaner (AVG does a free one) then run that. Hope this helps and good luck.
