    Default K & N

    OK, my northern brothers.

Went to a local automotive parts dealer today to buy a K & N filter for my new car. Their response - never been one imported to OZ through our distributor. I find this very hard to believe. The other comment made was that if I bought one from ebay for example (one specified for a C) that it would not necessarily fir because our airbox may be different. I find this one hard to believe also.

    Any views or thoughts.

    That info would have helped....

    It's a late 2004 3.2 V6. The part number I got from K & N was 33-2848. Do you know anything about the new K & N Induction kit part no 57-0637

That is exactly what I've got fitted to mine ( and blo#dy cold fingers after taking the airbox apart, It's minus figures here.)

Some people, scooby comes to mind, run the induction kit. But I prefer the panel filter..a bit louder with the airbox mods but not too loud. PM scooby for his opinion if you want to fit the induction kit.. HTH

    Gsi,
Mate thanks for your help. Problem with the induction kit is that I can't seem to find anyone here selling them and I haven't see any on ebay.

I am assuming there is some threads on the airbox mod....

    Cheers

P.S. sorry about freezing your hands.....

If you can't find any for sale have you considered a personal import from the UK?? I'm sure any of our tuning companies here would be happy to export..Either that or we ship to Aus about 3 times a year.. .

There have been threads on the airbox mods.. But for 'our' engines remove the top of the box, and the filter. You should see that one end of the filter is dirtier than the other. This is because it on breaths through about half. In the bottom of the airbox is a plastic 'clipped in' funnel that pushes the air to the back.Simply pull up the funnel, out off the box and the filter can breathe all across the panel better. Makes it a little louder as well .

What a morning to leave the Digi camera at home..Will get some pic's up when I can..

tThere is also a pipe on the top of the airbox which restricts the flow, this can be cut away with something like a dremel ? I have the airbox derestricted and a K&N panel filter, it has taken the flat spot almost away ...

You're a legend. Thanks for your help. I found panel filters on ebay (from the UK) and will probably go that way. 4593909000 this number is an ebay item and the price is 45 quid and 12 for postage. In conversion AUD, that's probably better than I would pay in store.

Once I get it I will pull the box apart and I'll take some pics also.

    Cheers

    No problems..HTH..

Bainie is right, that on some other VX engines there is also a small pipe leading to the airflow meter in the top of the airbox. As 'our' 3.2's don't have this ( the meter pokes through into the airbox) you only need remove the bottom half.. Some people advocate taking the mesh off the end of the airflow meter, But i've left mine on ' just in case'
