Default Blaupunkt systems

Whilst looking at the cheaper (<£150) Kenwood Head Units (see thread http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36501) I decided to look and see what I could get if I sepnt a bit more money.

I have always liked the Blaupunkt unit but always shyed away due to being a bit more expensive. But I have seen this unit for £119 which has Bluetooth:
http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/hamburg.asp
and can control iPods with this (£70):
http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/ipod_cable.asp

But the bit that really interested me is the Vectra Steering Control adapter. It seems to be fully functional as the manual suggests it will still allow you to control the BC (Board Computer)!!!! Not cheap at £100:

Can anyone confirm this is true?? As I would love to retain all the existing BC functions so I don't have to replug the CD30 back in to change the time etc.

When i fitted a blaupunkt interface to my prefacelift it didn't work very well,so i got an autoleads version which works fine, best thing to do is buy the adapter from a car audio installer, not the internet so you have more chance of fixing any problems if they crop up.

get yourself an alpine.
the ipod lead is only £15 and it's fullspeed.
not press & wait.

i've been looking at the 9885R
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpi...5r-p-5786.html
on offer atm @ CAD
just about every toy that you need is included.

i'm considdering buying one myself.
but i don't have an ipod so that'd be more expense...

Cars are just too complicated these days or is it just the Vectra doesn't like to be messed with.

I've tried installing Xenon lights - didn't work... Lamp warnings then ballast failure
I've tried installing a Tuning box - didn't work... DPF winges and cause an Engine fault

Now I want to install a decent head unit with BT, iPod and retain the Steering wheel controls and its not looking too good...

I have just ordered myself an iPod FM transmitter (Belkin Tunebase) thing from Amazon for £15. So I will see how well that works first before commiting the dosh on a HU project.

Besides I still have my parking sensors, rear interior light and Imrscher rear spoiler sat in the garage ready to be fitted

Whippy: Thats a nice Alpine unit there... Sure you will be v happy. Get on eBay and get a 5th gen iPod for a few more ££...

i fitted a blaupunkt hamburg in my facelift, got a nice little 40gb hard drive with it, it controls my creative zen as well and is blue tooth to boot, great head unit. i have the optional remote that mounts to the steering wheel, works ok, i don't miss using the stardard controls now at all, even the wife got the hang of it ,i'll post a couple of pics tomorrow.

Thanks for the pics. Nice footwell lighting

I have just bought a Belkin TuneBase iPod FM transmitter thing for £20 so going to see how well that works out first, before changing out the headunit. Just spent some money upgrading my PC and setup a new Media PC for the lounge so bit short of cash...

Fitted one last weekend. Given it a few days to see how it is, works fine, no issues. Access to BC and System (except Audio, not needed) and yes you can set the clock. Actually the steering wheel controls seem to be more responsive with my DAB52 than the Blaupunkt CD30 factory fitted.
