    Default Increased fuel consumption!!!

Before I put the Veccy into the garage for its 2nd service I noticed that the car went from approx 31-33 MPG over an average week back and forth to my work. Even after the service its dropped to approx 27MPG. went into Edinburgh tonight on the motorway and hardly managed to average (on the trip computor) over 30 mpg for the (steady) return journey. Can't think what would cause this drop. Can anybody advise what the potential reason for this drop could be caused by?

The only other thing that may have contributed to this drop is I removed the air intake nozzle inside the air filter box, other than that I'm stumped.

Someone on hear has reported that can cause slightly increased fuel consumption.

I was about to make a similar post.

About 6 weeks back I switched to Shells' V-power for petrol. My consumption steadied out at about 28.9 mostly town driving and gave 320 miles per full tank. But in the last two weeks it's dropped to 25mpg and I'm getting 280 miles per full tank. I've done just over 10,400 miles.

Have you done anything to the car (mods) to warrant this drop?

To be honest mine hasn't really dropped that badly, only when my right foot swells do I notice the increase lol. And on a separate note, the funnel actually doesn't make that much difference I checked my filter the other day... ( the bonnet was up, might as well while your there!) and the filter is still only being half used and still predominantly in one corner.

I think this is a cause of a lot of the newer cars now. I think the 1.9 software for the DPF now causes it to go every 30 seconds instead of 90% full. That will have a dramatic effect if it is true but have not been able to get Vx to confirm.

On the V6 the software was changed from 90% to 9% and my average mpg has now dropped because of this and nothing you can do except get an even lighter foot. This has been confirmed bu Izuzu in Japan. I used to average about 43 now down to 38.
