Gutted.
6 Hours in the freezing cold today at the auctions and the only 2 Vectra SRI's went for silly money.
Red Vectra 1.9cdti SRI 80000 Miles for £6250, bit dear for me but great car. Back to the drawing board
A bloke that I got chatting to mentioned that the Vectra Diesel engines are one of the worst on the market and that id be "lucky" to find a decent one. Is this statment utter b****ks?
Tell him to **** off, did he buy a mundane by any chance. Some of the diesels have constant problems, but most will run fine and there is plenty on here that have reliable diesels.
The 1.9cdti's are ok, but if you get a bad one it may cost a fortune. Its also the same engine as used in the Fiats and Alfas I believe.
Sounds to me like the bloke was trying to put off a potential buyer so he had one less person to bid against...
Do yourself a favour, when you're at an auction, talk to no-one about what your bidding on, that way you cant be given duff info to put you off what you may be bidding on.
vauxhall has come on along way with the new models, much better, i fancy a 1.9cdti my self
You mention "silly money" obviously you mean expensive.
So someone paid £6250 for a 80000 mile 19cdti which has a bad engine.
As mentioned previously he's putting you off as they are obviously still going for good money..

I check ebay everyday as I have now been a month without a car. Plus I am holding out for a SRI, cheers for the advice tho. Im sure I will be able to sort somthing for about 5.5k to 6k, just have to wait and see.
