    Default Top Gear Track?

    As the title says, what track do the Top Gear Team test on every week? also I notice a Jumbo jet standing in the same place every week, I assume that is a non flyer?

    Top Gear is filmed on th old BAe Systems site at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey. The Aerodrome is still in use for various things, flying included and it has a bl**dy grat runway long enough to get big stuff lik 747's in.

    And the Jumbo Jet is the one you see in the James Bond film, it doesnt fly as its been 'modded' with a twin engine on a single pylon rather than the standard 2 seperate engines on their own pylons.

    And if you 'like' Westlife (cover version robbers) the Jumbo is in their latest video

    Ahh so thats why that jumbo looked strange in the westlife vid my missus was watching last night

    I'd say they were old VC10 Rolls Royce Conway engines, given the twin-pod design...

    That's just me being geeky though... :geek:

    As usaul the guys come up with the info. What a good link Phil, but can a Jumbo really get down and stop in time on,what looks like a "small" runway for a 747.

    Hit the "Zoom In" button, its not so small then .

    I cant spot the 747 in the google map, can anyone?

    Depends how much load it's carrying! When I worked at Luton airport, where the runway is a relatively short 8500 ft long, they did have a 747 land once, but it had no passengers and not much fuel. Fully laden, they need a long runway to get up!
