Default Vauxhalls Reply To My Handbrake Failure.

After a fair old wait I eventually get a reply,
Somehow though I wish they hadn't bothered.

    Service Request Number: 1-**************

    Email: ************************

    Dear Mr Dine

Thank you for your recent email regarding your Vauxhall Vectra, registration number **06***.

I was sorry to learn of the problem you experienced with the handbrake on your vehicle and can appreciate your reasons for contacting us.

I can confirm that following extensive testing of the handbrakes on the Opel Vectra/Signum, there have been no instances where a manufacturing or material defect has been located. The “advice when parking” was issued to reiterate to our customers the safest and correct way to park their vehicles, following a small number of queries.

Thank you once again for writing, although I regret the circumstances that caused you to do so.

    Yours sincerely

    Philip Evans
    Customer Care Manager

if they commit and claim responsibility, it will mean they'll have to do a mass recall of all the veccy c's and probably signums and repair them.....

    they'll never do that... unfortunately

I wasnt expecting them to roll over and play dead... but the reply is absolutely nothing.
They haven't answered any of the questions I asked them about the problem.
The reply is in my opinion a complete nothing and I would rather they had just not replied.
The sooner they admit there is a problem, because there clearly is, then the better.
It's like the Clio bonnet catch all over again!

Looks like a stock reply and have made no attempt to look at your individual case.

Yep, much as I would have expected. Really, I think if anyone feels strongly about such issues is vote with your feet and change your vehicle to another manufacturer. Eventually this will hurt Vauhxhall much more and can take years to recover.

Had a Toyota Avensis with disk handbrake and would only hold on a hill if you pressed the footbrake at the same time. Never needed on drum brakes. Older VX had inboard drum brake on rear disk. Do all Veck C's have disk handbrake!
