    Default Signum fault

Took my car out this morning, got 100 yards down the road and turned right, no problem, got to the roundabout another 100 yards and turned right again, then there was the loudest bang ive ever heard, far louder than a gun being fired, me and missus both felt something hit the underside of the footwells, i pulled over to take a look, nothing seems out of place, suspension looks fine, and car seems to drive ok, but im very cautious about getting behind the wheel of it now

still runs in a straight line
    no leaks anywhere
    tyres havent lost pressure
brakes seem ok (for a VX)
no strange smells or grinding anywhere

    any ideas???

Do you have the spring seat mod? i.e. the rubber sleeves on the ends of the springs to stop the springs rotating and then making a loud crack as they reseat.

The suspension springs don't turn with the car as it turns. But at a certain point the springs decide to turn and snap (whizz around) to the position they should be in. In doing so they create a loud 'Bang' as they do so.

    The mod fixes this problem.

if i remember correctly, the car has been making a slight metallic dragging sound, i used to get this on an old Nissan Bluebird, turned out to be the disc cover catching the discs, i ripped them off and never had a problem again

would the spring reseating make such a loud bang and cause the footwells to shockwave aswell??

    also is it dangerous??

Yep, given that the vibration will carry through the body panels etc. When it did it with me before I got the sleeves fitted, it scared the sh*t out of me!!

No, just an annoyance, and somewhat disconcerting.

Yep, you just need to compress the springs and slip the sleeves on the end.
