    Default Prices.....

Does this seem 'ok' or should I be looking elsewhere? (parts for a 2.2 Direct Sri with the Z22YH engine)

Local Dealer (Arnold Clark,Greenock) pricing rear pads at (approx) £22 + VAT
and set of spark plugs 3-electrode at £28 + VAT

Reason I ask,is that I've seen people say the plugs are 'peanuts' and should be replaced every 10k or so because they are so cheap ?? As for the pads, that makes them around £27 and I'm sure that the 'partsforsaabs' website can do a Mintex equivalent for the same price.

I can't say about the parts you bought but when I bought wiper blades - front and rear - they were decent £31 so if they are dear its probably not a lot. I have also ordered my traction control switch from there and it was about the same as anywhere else - so they are not too bad.

Those prices are full retail. Ask for a discount, the worst they can do is say no.

You should be able to get the pads for about £15+VAT and the plugs for around £4+VAT each.

    hi.

I have a trade card but although I would get a discount on the pads,I was told the plugs cannot be discounted

The plugs would be good value at around £20 a set,but to pay over £30 for standard plugs, there has surely got to be an alternative for the money out there,NG platinum etc

There never seems to be definite info on the 'direct' plugs, when to change them etc. My car is at 47k and i was going to change them as I think that is a fair mileage on originals.Am I correct or should I wait longer?

Not sure about that branches discount policy, I'm quoting prices I've been charged recently at Linwood. There's usually no problem discounting service items, especially if you buy them as a "service kit".

    Somebody posted this link recently...

    http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/pages/pr...s/NGK-cars.asp

I've got the Z22SE and the service schedule for plugs is 40000 miles/every 4 years, although, I've never left them that long. Not sure about the direct.
