Unhappy One for the boys in blue?

Just wondering if anyone with more knowledge and experience than me could shed some light on this?

Driving home last night, I got pulled over by a traffic car. I stopped immediately, fully expecting them to tell me about a blown bulb or something equally insignificant. But this guy had other things on his mind! Apparently, when I joined the dual carriageway I not only 'obviously' exceeded the 50mph limit but also undertook 3 lanes of traffic....

What happened was this. At this junction of the dual carriageway, the entry slip road continues for about 1/4 mile and then becomes a 'turn left' filter lane for the next roundabout. As I joined the dual carriageway, I needed to be in either the middle or right hand lane, to turn right at the roundabout. I looked across the 3 lanes of moving traffic beside me, and then in my mirrors, and couldn't see a single space where I would be able to filter in. Looking a couple of hundred yards ahead, I could see a sensible sized gap in the traffic, so I made progress, and slotted into it. It wasn't risky, I didn't cut anybody up, and it's the sort of manouevre everybody makes on a regular basis.

Now, when the police stopped me, one of them was very pleasant, asked me what I'd been doing, where I was going in such a hurry, all the questions I'd expect. The other, younger officer obviously saw the car, assumed I was a boy racer, and wasn't very friendly, to say the least. After a fairly lengthy discussion with both of them (where I tried my best to explain that I really thought what I'd done was safer than stopping on the slip road to wait for a space to appear), a few threats of charging me with dangerous driving, and several apologies from me, they left me alone.

I wasn't given a producer, they're not taking any action, but they said my details will be entered into the system and if I'm ever stopped again I'll be charged. I was too suprised/angry/bemused to ask them at the time, but what did they mean? What system am I now entered on, and how long will my details stay there for?

    Thanks in advance

They were bored and saw an easy target. you may find that you get pulled easily for a while. My car was put on what I call "the register" for about 12 months as I was continually stopped for "routine" checks.

A modified car acts as a beacon to the police. Remember most modded cars attract a bad reputation.

im on that too, copper turned up at my house. if you get another warning, you get a section 29 (fink it is), and then if you get another section 29 in 12 months, your car get imponded, and if you dont pay the stuipd price they hav the right to crush your car (90% sure) section 29s last 12 months, so dont get two in 12 months

i would just consider myself lucky and move on.......

if you DID do something wrong just do as they said for the next time, it could be one of those things where you never get stoppped again for.

could of been worse if you know what i mean.

Give it about a month, then contact your local constabulary
Request a copy of your file under the Data Protection Act
Costs you no more than £10 for a copy
This will show all details they hold on you over the last 25 years

as above its a section 59 warning you are on about not 29
which when we issue one of these in northampton we say

you are/have been driving in a careless/inconsiderate manner contrary to section 3 of the road traffic act 1988.

    or
you are/have been driving on common land/moorland/land which is not part of a road/footpath/bridleway/restricted byway contray to section 34 of the road traffic act 1988.

then we tell them after either of the two above

in a manner which is causing/has been causing/is likely to cause alarm distress or annoyance to members of the public.
    then you will be told,
i must warn you that if you continue to drive the vehicle in the same way or if you drive the vehicle in the same way on any other occasion,i can seize the vehicle under section 59 of the police reform act 2002.

also if you are caught in another vehicle for the same thing that vehicle will be seized it is more on the person not the vehicle which some people don't Realise.

as for the register there is no such thing all the officer will do is put in a 353(intelligence log).
so when or if you get pulled over for the same thing they will know that you have been warned before so you will not be let off with the offence

I know, and since I fitted the bodykit and alloys I've been sooo careful too, didn't want them to have any excuse to bother me!

I never meant to get stopped in the first place but yes, given the points and conviction I've already got from a year ago, I was VERY relieved when they walked away!
