    Default 3.0 V6 CDTi

I apologize as this may not be the right section of the forum to post this, but here it goes.

Some guys from opelforum.si have told me, that the 3.0CDTi engine is not quite reliable and advised me to go for the 1.9CDTi 150bhp or at least the 2.2DTi. It seems that the V6s just die at some point....I don't know...

I want some more opinions, because I really love the sound and the torque this engine produces.

    Thanks for any help

Well from what members on here have posted, I'd say it's the opposite. The 3.0V6 seems to be very reliable with few problems reported. The 1.9 has a whole list of reported problems that seem to crop up, and expensive ones at that!

Perhaps they are confusing the old 2.0 DTI

I've had my 3.0 V6 CDTI for a year now
The only things I can report are :
A very small oil leak (which was very small and almost unnoticeable) resulting in a replacement sump gasket
Erratic oil warning level light (had it once about a month ago)
Erratic revs (seems to occur with sustained medium speed on cruise control, followed by demand for power/acceleration)

As for engine completely dying, I've only heard of one such complete failure, and that was due to modification abuse by the owner
Amazingly though VX agreed to pay 30% of the repair costs

I've had my Vec 2.0DTi for almost a year now and no faults whatsoever. I just recently replaced the glowplugs...the engine is still going strong and it's done 95k miles.

I've got the 2.0DTi, 120,000 mls never missed a beat, not even had the spill pipes done, original glow plugs, starts well and pulls like a train.

I think the CDTI 150 is the culprit from what other people say.........

Yes 3.0 V6's on the whole dont seem to have many problems at all. Seems a reliable unit. To be fair, there are far more 1.9's about so far more chance of coming across issues. However they seem to have a few common problems such as swirl values and injection issues.

The 1.9-150 is the most popular engine, so obviously there'll be more reported failures...

But the 3.0V6 is an Isuzu unit, and they're normally well respected as far as reliability is concerned.
