Extended Warranty

Hi,

Does anyone have any idea how much it is to extend the warranty into year 4?

My car has done 35k and given the track record of faults in the past year (turbo replaced, injectors, swirl valve etc) I thought about extending the warranty.

Only other option is to get shot of the car on 31st March 08 when the warranty expires.

When I was looking to purchase mine, the 4th year extension is up to 60K miles
The price for all Vectra models was £425 (and still is as at Dec 2007)
There is also a 5th year extension up to 80K miles
The price for all Vectra models was £650 (and still is as at Dec 2007)
However, I would have done that mileage before the original warranty had expired, so it was pointless to me

If you have purchased the car through Network Q, then this a cheaper way to extend the warranty, as each additional year is £199
However, this too has mileage limits and was unsuitable for me

I therefore asked the dealership to obtain details of the Complete Protection Plan
This extends the original warranty (with the exact same terms) and includes all servicing, MoT repairs, and so on
It's not cheap, but it leaves you only needing to purchase tyres and exhaust!
My car is now covered up to 130K miles, expiring November 2009
At £1100 it should pay for itself in servicing, brake pads, and discs alone
Compare that price to the 5th year extension which only takes you to 80K miles!

I will speak to the dealer and see what they say. I only do about 10-12k in a year, so the mileage issue is not a problem. But, the faults encountered in the past year has not filled me with confidence for the future.

To be honest my dealer has been excellent from day one, no problems at all, car in, fixed and all under warranty, no questions.

But, £650 - £1100 for warranty cover is a bit steep, given the mileage I do.

Looking more like I will ditch the car and look at a new one. Probably something more reliable with a longer warranty etc and not a VX.

Whist you are at the dealership see what trade-in offer they would give you against an equivalent replacement model, best savings to be had at this time of year!

If you own the car outright, then it might be worth keeping for the car for 6 months out of warranty and see what it costs you
That would take you to September 2008

I'm in a similar boat with mine but I think mine will be going if February if a certain series of events comes off.

I think when I looked at the two year extension I was quoted £550 by Network Q for my 1.8

The Network Q extenstion is cheaper, much cheaper
If you wait for the postal renewal, that is only £99 a year!

iv'e just paid £399.00 for a year's network Q warrant for our vec
