    Default Winter cleaning

I'm all for spending a long summer afternoon car cleaning, but at this time of year it's too flippin' cold for hanging around for long!
What do other folks do at this time of year? My routine (for what it's worth) consists of:
    1. squirt wheels with alloy cleaner (I love the smell of hydrochloric acid!)
    2. pressure wash all over, doing the wheels last
    3. Bucket and sponge wash all over, with Extreme wash and polish stuff
    4. rinse with the pressure washer and chamois dry.

I know it's a quick and not exactly great routine, but it works for me!

It can be very dis-heartning this time of year, so my car cleaning activity level comes right down. Wheels and windows every couple of days - with all light covers too for safety. Full in and out at the valeters once a fortnight.

I've just done a full clean.... wash, clay, polish (clay and polish only on high wear areas as the car was machine polished recently) sealant all over, then wax the high wear areas (bonnet and bumper).

Thats the most it will have now til spring, will just do a general wash every couple of weeks now.

Basically a good 'Hand Wash' once a week, a hoover if required. I do find that the windows inside need cleaning more often in the winter (must be my breath). But I don't polish or wax it this time of the year, I make sure it has a good couple of coats before the harsh weather hits..

I find the flash autodry thingy really good this time of year - little hanging round and with so much grit and rubbish on the roads - I dont like chamois or polishing as there is no guarentee of removing all contaminants. Its just a case of wash and walk away - until spring.

Please throw those bl**dy sponges away, all your doing is dragging dirt particles across your paintwork. A few years ago I went for a cotton wash rag and now been converted over to the lambswool wash mitts and the double bucket method. Try it, you'll be convinced.

Oh, and don't forget the pure polish, swirl remover, sealant, glaze and wax. Thats all.
