i have a sony HU fitted to my car and you need a vx or another harness to power it correctly.....and if you can afford it get the SONY interface for the steering remotes too cost around £50.00 but well worth it imo

Think you might need the loom to get the power, or you get a pulse rather than a constant power. The way I got round it with my Parrot was to swap the yellow and red power cables around (as vx's are the other way around) and connect the ignition power to the cigi lighter.

You will loose all sterio info from screen but every thing else will pork on screen. As ditchp says though the way to go to keep everything on screen is to get the interface, but to get you going with a working HU you should be able to do it as I said.

You should just be fine swapping the red and yellow wires on the Sony loom. I've found you only need to take ignition feed from cigi lighter if you are trying to power multiple things in addition to the stereo. The cars stereo ignition live seem to shut down if too much current is drawn from it.
