    Default CDTi Cam Belt

    Has anyone done a cam belt on a cdti?what are they like to do.

    Not physically done one myself but an Indy garage charged £60 labour to do one

    If anyone has done a 2.0 16v petrol car, it is about the same sort of job, fiddly but not hard.

    As usual the rollers and tensioners should be replaced, but the other item that is a must is replacing the water pump.

    This is the main cause of failure on higher mileage cars. But if the belt system does go pear shaped, fortunatly, it is only the rockers that break and the valves and pistons stay intact!!

    So not a massive job if you do have a failure.

    Has it been designed to not damage the valves and pistons then?

    Seems daft to me what with the DTi being chain, and the CDTi going back to a belt.
