Default parking sensor fitting nightmare !!!!

Today i fitted my new irmscher door pins and sill plates and also cisbo parking sensors. I'm not one for cutting corners as i always beleive it will come and bite you on the bot but today i followed the how 2 for the parking sensors, rather than remove the rear bumper i followed the dimensions made sure everything was spot on applied some masking tape and started to drill the holes everthing was going well untill i came to remove the tape from the last hole, it only pulled the paint from the bumper as i peeled it off about half inch square. Totally gutted. Anyway phoned chips away who is coming on wed to put it right. Now they are fitted and they are working perfect so im sort of a happy bunny.
Warning to others REMOVE THE ****** BUMPER dont cut corners.
By the way i ordered the dark blue sensors which isnt a bad match for my metro blue vec .

the paint came off when you used masking tape?!?!?!?!?

sounds bad, surely masking tape is the weakest tape around?

i don't think it was the tacky-ness of the masking tape that pulled the paint off, the paint was on the edge of the newly drilled hole, and it was weaker.

and yes...definitely remove the bumper, it saves time marking out aswell.

Harry, it was'nt actually at the edge of the hole it was just above and to the right. i think it must have been an area on the bumper where the key was poor.

I've always used black insulation tape as it's always in my pocket and never heard of this happening but a very handy tip if you was to do it on a daily basis so pretty pointless tip here I guess but is to use a white board maker pen. You can draw all you like on the bumper and just wipe it off.
