    Angry New fridge..knackered..

well, got a new fridge freezer on 27th oct this year...
when i recieved it, it had a dent on the aluminium door, reported to customer services and they finally managed to say they could replace a door and not the whole fridge.. anyway 7th dec still no door... rung up again...oh yes its been posted today by courier..
28th december..all ill with sickness and diaoreah.. still no door, and fridge not cooling properly..think the food has gone off and made us all ill..not 100% though.. conplained to customer services and said they only cover for the freezer!!.. what differance does it make... so chucked the contents of the fridge..again..2nd time in 2 months!!..had all our xmas food and goodies in there.. customer service wont entertain me..gave me an address to write to..
any ideas where we stand as to if we can claim against them somehow??.. a fridge 7 weeks old shouldnt pack up so quickly!!
    sorry rant over..

I thought you would have been covered under "The sale of goods act",we must have folks on this site who know the ins and out of retail,
whos sold it to you seems they need to be steared clear of.
Not the best thing to happen at the run up to xmas though.

Where did you buy the freezer from as you should have at least 3-12 months come back with the store themselves. Contact trading standards for advice they are very helpfull.

Who ever sold you the fridge is responsible under the sale of goods act. They are the ones who should be sorting this problem out.If the door is not shuting properly and has been like this since you had it delivered then the appliance is unsuitable for purpose. You have given the manufacturer more than enough time to repair therefore i would go back to the supplier and DEMAND a replacement or you will be taking the matter up with both trading standards and their head office. Dont forget to mention that there may be a case of food poisoning due the machine not performing as it should.
    Hope this helps.

it was from currys, its an lg fridge freezer... the door shuts fine, but as they are aluminium doors there was a small dent in the fridge door initially..
asked for a replacement door..purely cosmetic reasons but now the fridge is knackered!!...
LG are sorting an engineer to repair the thermastat or whatever is wrong with it, but lg say they will only conpensate for freezer stuff???...why not the fridge??..and the fact that we are all ill... probably due to food poisoning!!

    Thumbs up

American style f/f check that the doors are square top to bottom as the whole machine can twist in transit. If LG are to replace the themostate then there is a problem and what you need to do is pop along to an ASDA or tesco and buy a fridge/freezer temperature gauge that way you always know the machine is working. 5' degrees for fridge -18' degrees for freezer. As to them only covering the freezer thats due to the cost associated with meat and fish.Check your house policy it may be covered that way.

This is off the trading standards web site.tradingstandards.gov

    3) Repair or replacement
The trader can refuse to agree to either of these remedies if it is disproportionate in comparison to the other remedies. For example, if you ask a trader to replace a washing machine then he would be entitled to turn down your request and offer a repair instead.
However, the repair or replacement must be carried out within a reasonable time and without causing significant inconvenience to the consumer. If this does not happen or the repair or replacement is not possible, then the consumer can rescind the contract (claim a refund) or request a reduction in purchase price.
Please note: The remedies of repair/replacement and the subsequent rescission or reduction in purchase price are not applicable to Hire Purchase contracts and other laws apply. Please contact your local Trading Standards Service for further advice

covered on the house, but i claimed for that when the old one bust, i claimed for fridge and freezer contents with 60xs... not really worth it for £150 worth of food stuff for the fridge and it will cripple me next year for makin 2 claims..why should i have to claim due to a faulty appliance!..
as for meat and fish, there is plenty of fresh meat and fish in the fridge... just not enough room in the freezer to store it..not that i would now cos its probably off!!
its a normal fridge freezer type thingie..checked all doors etc..all are sitting as they should!
