    Default insurance cover ?

    hi im going to have to use another car for few days but it doesnt have insurance on it my fully comp insurance says i can drive other cars does this mean i can drive the non insured 1 with my policy covering it is taxed & mot'd i dont wanna spend ages on phone trying to get thru to customer service to ask them if poss thanks

    I think the policy wording may say that you are covered for third party only in any other vehicle that does not belong to you

    but as the other car has no insurance would my insurance still be valid on it dont matter if its third party its only a renault

    yeah, cos 'you' are insured so god forbid you have an accident in it you will be covered..or the car you go into can claim!..

    I was told no, that it had to be insured by someone else but it's hear say so I'd ring your provider.

    dint want to ring call centre in india be on phone for ages then they ask u to repeat everything cos they dont understand but may have to cheers

    probably are right... lol.. as the car wouldnt show up on the insurance data base that the police use/check so it may flag up the car!..
    dunno, you better check with your insurer though to double check!!..at least you will hear it from the horses mouth!!

    I always thought the other car had to be insured, this was to stop people buying high performance cars and
    driving them third party on a policy for another 'cheap' car they owned/did not own.

    Not 100% on this though.

    that was my thinking, is it your car...or someone elses?? if someone elses ie registered to them, then maybe you can use it..if its yours then you need it insured seperately!..
