    Default 80gb Ps3

We are eventually getting the 80GB PS3 by - well read the link - but why do we have to wait whilst other countries have been enjoying it for 18months?

    Anyway read-on and enjoy!!

Thought there was gonna be a 120gb. Why bother with one in between?

interesting where did you hear that - im asking, because you could actually be right because the reason Sony Europe were not releasing 80GB version originally was for the reason you stated - 'the one in between is pontless'. They too would only release a version that is significant 120GB maybe?

But if I wanted a larger Hard-drive for my 60GB PS3.... dont I just buy one and plug it in ???

Whats so special about the 120GB one, except it has a bigger hard-drive ?

I'm confused as to what the appeal would be ?

yip but you need a SATA II hard drive - i believe.

If you have a 60GB one then you have the best as it has features that will not appear on the PS3 again, these are:

    - Backwards compatibility with PS2
    - More USB
    - Memory car reader

120GB version will be released in June/July next year. It will be desgined for gamers who do a lot of on-line playing and use the unit as a media storage unit. By that stage the 40GB version will be retailing under £200 to stay competitve with the Wii and XBOX. The 120GB version is expected to retail at £450. Of course all is dependant on sales volumes. It also seems that Blue-Ray is becoming favoured with all the big movie makers and so this knock the price down further.

There are ways of expanding your hard drive capacity without the official drives, there is lots of info on PS forums and videos of how to on you tube
