Angry Merry Xmas VX - You ruined mine

Ah, christmas ruined by the car!!!!

When travelling down to London on Xmas eve, my car started to lose power and judder, like a misfire. Then at just over 70mph the car juddered and slowed down to just under 30mph. Not a good move on the outside lane of the M1 on xmas eve.

Anyway, managed to get to the nearest service station doing 30 mph and called the AA. AA man could not detect any fault codes and could not fix the car.

So £500 later and a transporter, I ended up where I started from 12 hours earlier. (VX only give roadside assistance after the 1st year and you cannot upgrade to relay)

Pretty pi**ed off with VX as the car had a new turbo, manifold, swirl valve fitted just over 3 weeks ago to cure the same fault. Erratic idling, loss of power under 2000 rpm and turbo kicking in but not doing anything.

To say I am angry is an understatement, this engine is a joke. The VX technicians have not got a clue what to do with it, they just changed a few parts and hoped for the best.

Not much I can do at the moment as the dealers are on holiday. Just wait until they reopen.

    Merry Christmas VX

I would also try and get VX to cover the towing charges as the car has been in for the same fault, their possible failure to repair (it "could" be a new fault) has left you out of pocket.

Sounds like your another tuning box victim mate....

Hopefully the dealers will never notice and eventually sort it out.

For whats it's worth their not all green, and when they get a car in that puzzels them, under their breath they'll be mumbling tuning box, which may then lead to a whole lot of apathy on their part as your car takes longer to repair as they'll seem reluctant to go to the far ends of a fart fixing a car thats been driven beyond it's engineerd limits.
Thats of course if they suspect a tuning box.
If i was to guess i'd say its the tuning box thats ruined your xmas not VX
Some peeps have a good time during their ownership of a diesel with a tuning box fitted, quite alot don't,take this forum for instance,as i've pionted out before a year ago every other post was concerning tuning boxes, now as you'll see they barely get a mention,me thinks that says it all
Anyway us lads will fiddle, and usually kick ourselves in the nads for it after if it all goes wrong!!!! LOL Wouldn't it be boring being a girl? LOL
All the best with your car mate, but if it's real fun your after,be a real rebel, stick to fingers up to fuel costs and get yourself a petrol, damn me they go like stink of the lights, and rev like hell, without a dealership in sight(Most of the time)

I know what you mean about the 1.9 CDTi matey, this is exactly the reason why my car went. I had endless faults with mine (some of them repeat faults), which caused me to lose confidence with any dealer. I was worried about how many parts were on back order as so many cars had the same problems (swirl valve, injectors, fuel rail, fuel rail harness, ECU, exhaust manifold etc etc etc), and then couple that with how much these parts are and what the dealership charges to fix them, it was time for it to go.

However, I hope you get some joy at the dealership when they re-open and that you get the car sorted.

Sorry matey, but I don't agree with you. Vx have a severe shortage of the parts I've mentioned as so many cars have the same problems, surely they're not all down to tuning boxes otherwise the sellers would be driving round in Ferrari's. We've had cars in this club with the same faults that have never seen a tuning box so they're not entirely to blame.
