    Default CDTI Engine temperature ?

i think that my temp. is way to low .. maybe sensor failure or is it normal that low temperature ?

let say it never goes over 85 C
but usualy it sticks below 80 C

Sounds about right mate. Mines exactly the same. I left it running on the drive for 30 mins the other day to see it the spanner light came on and the needle didn't move above 80 and the fan didn't turn on.

The thermostat should compensate for the cold weather and stay shut longer until the correct operating temperature is reached. 80 degrees does sound a bit low, but then again I'm more used to petrol engines, not diesels.

Mine would open to just over 80 and then drop back to around 75 when cruising on the motorway........changed thermostat a while ago and it now runs bang on 85 and the cabin temp is a lot hotter as well

hm ..... normal or not then ?
seems to me also to low , my runs @ 75 C on motorway

2IamtheStig: maybe that thermostat sending wrong parameters to ECU, and then engine jerks/juddering a bit because that ... maybe u have that problem ? Thermostat is not so expensive, right ?

A few nights ago I managed to get 15 miles before the temperature gauge even moved!
After 30 minutes and it was well below normal, however the outside temperature was just below freezing
Normally I get about 5 to 6 miles, and then it starts to level out between 80 and 90
